My zine will show how the idea of love protected by UK law has changed from the 12th to the 21st Century. I will illustrate how it has moved from assuming love is about property and duty, to increasingly protecting our choices of who to love, reflecting a wider cultural shift.
I was surprised to find that the law had any sort of connection with love, and really surprised how much the law had changed for the better. But I will show that in the context of immigration law the old ideas of love still dominate – we’re not as modern as we think.
